UPDATED New Mexico Personal Financial Literacy (PFL) Grant

With House Bill 171 signed into law in February 2024, New Mexico school districts may now adopt personal financial literacy as a local requirement starting in the 2025-26 School Year.

Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF) is dedicated to supporting school districts with this opportunity by offering top-tier curriculum and comprehensive professional development, all at no cost.

In addition, NGPF is offering $500 stipends to the first 50 New Mexico public high school teachers who complete 20 hours of NGPF professional development – including On-Demand Modules (make sure to check out the NGPF Starter Pack!), Certification Courses, Virtual PD, Virtual Conferences, and FinCamps (hopefully coming to NM in 2026!)

FAQ:

Who is eligible to receive the $500 professional development stipend?

The first 50 New Mexico public high school teachers who complete 20 hours of NGPF professional development starting January 1, 2025.

Where can I sign up for these professional development workshops?

Registration is easy and all PD is free. Visit the On-Demand, Certification Course, Virtual PD, Virtual Conference, and FinCamp pages to get started.

When and how will the stipends be provided?

If eligible, you will receive a $500 Amazon e-gift card as a stipend. NGPF will automatically tally your hours and notify you that you are a recipient of the grant within the quarter after you complete the 20 credits.

Stipends are paid approximately:

  • Oct 15 for quarter ending Sep 30
  • Jan 15 for quarter ending Dec 31
  • Apr 15 for quarter ending Mar 30
  • Jul 15 for quarter ending Jun 30

To avoid delays:

  1. Please confirm your school is listed correctly in your NGPF Account > My Profile
  2. If you use NGPF On Demand modules as part of your 20+ hours for the stipend, please note that each module is designed to take about 1 hour to complete. Answer questions in-depth to ensure that you receive credit for them.

I already completed 20 hours of NGPF PD before the start of this program on January 1, 2025. Will I receive a $500 stipend for this prior work?

No. The $500 stipend will only be given for hours completed on or after January 1, 2025.

If I complete 40 hours of PD, will I be eligible for an additional stipend?

We encourage everyone to take as much PD as desired, but because we want to reach as many teachers as possible, each teacher is only eligible for one $500 Amazon e-gift card.

Who do I contact with questions about the stipend?

Please email info@ngpf.org with any questions. You can check your total PD hours for the stipend by downloading your transcript in your Account.
