FinCap Friday: "Girl Math" Causes a Big Wrath
If you've spent any time on social media over the last few months, you've probably seen the “girl math" trend. This started out as a lighthearted meme for entertainment purposes only, but after racking up billions of tags on TikTok and other platforms, the critics were rattled! Many of them say using the term “girl” reinforces tired stereotypes about girls and women not being in control of their finances. It brings up larger questions about this "girl-ification" of trends: "girl dinner", "girl math", "the girlies who get, get it" and more. Do your students think this trend is funny or foolish?
