Coming Soon: A Refined Semester Course
You spoke, and we listened. Teachers told us lessons often run long and timing is hard to predict. So we're making some changes to make your lesson prep easier. On November 12, we're launching an updated Semester Course. Every lesson will be built for a 45-minute class period. It's the same course you already teach, refined, not rewritten.
The 11 units and their order are the same, most lessons will keep their titles, and the majority of activities will carry over. The updated course still covers most of the Classic course's learning objectives, and National Standards coverage is nearly identical.
What this means for you:
- Less time reworking lessons to fit your periods. Pacing is consistent from one lesson to the next so you have more time for review, personalization and implementation.
- Room for review and testing. The updated course fits a real semester, containing 67 lessons with about 25% less instructional time.
- Fewer broken links. Article summaries are embedded right in the Lesson Guide and Student Activity Packet for a smoother lesson delivery.
- Keep a familiar structure. Every lesson still follows INTRO, LEARN IT, DO IT, and EXIT TICKET, with a Lesson Guide, Student Activity Packet, and Google Slides. Lesson activities, unit reviews, and tests will still have Spanish translations.
Teaching a longer block? Each lesson will include Extend the Learning resources so you can stretch the lesson when you need to.
You don't have to switch mid-term.
Finish your term the way you planned, and move over whenever it makes sense for you.
The Classic Semester Course will remain available through the end of this school year. After that, it moves to Retired Resources, where you can still access it through the end of the 2027-28 school year.
Want a preview of the coming changes? Here's a side-by-side comparison of the two courses.
We will also offer live virtual PD sessions to answer your questions about the course after it launches.
