I reached out to educators who have attended recent NGPF virtual PDs on use cases for ChatGPT with one simple question: 

How are you using ChatGPT in your practice and/or with your students? I received over 50 responses and highlighted both the most popular and the most creative responses. And yes, I did use ChatGPT to help me organize the responses!

2. Generating discussion prompts and questions
3. Developing rubrics for assignments
4. Generating formative assessments and quizzes
5. Summarizing articles and longer texts
6. Creating trivia questions on certain topics
7. Developing creative ideas for projects and activities
8. Proofreading and editing documents
9. Providing recommendations for tone and language choices
10. Integrating relevant state standards into curricula

Teachers are finding that Chat GPT saves them time and effort in creating educational materials and resources. They appreciate its ability to provide a starting point or draft that they can then refine or flesh out as needed. Additionally, some are using Chat GPT to help analyze student writing and provide feedback on various aspects such as theme, topic sentence, supporting evidence, and ways to improve writing and presentation.

What are 5 most creative uses of Chat GPT?

1. Using ChatGPT to generate unique trivia questions for a classroom game or activity.
2. Creating skits or role-play scenarios based on prompts generated by ChatGPT.
3. Using ChatGPT to create personalized, differentiated writing prompts for students based on their interests and abilities.
4. Utilizing ChatGPT to generate summaries of longer texts or articles for students to analyze and critique.
5. Using ChatGPT to generate a list of potential discussion questions with sample responses from different perspectives, allowing for deeper exploration and understanding of complex topics.
